Site
The observation site selected for this study is Cheng-Kung Lake, located within the National Cheng Kung University campus. Throughout different times of the day, the activities of individuals in this area were noted. In the morning hours, a higher concentration of middle-aged individuals engaged in walking or exercising was observed. By the afternoon, parents accompanied their children to partake in recreational activities and enjoy the water. Although the evening saw a decline in the number of visitors, a small group of students remained present in the vicinity.
Generally, the pathway along the southern edge of the lake is the primary location where most activities are concentrated. The surrounding areas tend to be traversed rather than utilized for specific purposes. Family-oriented activities predominantly occur on the small island situated at the center of the lake, whereas the majority of gatherings are concentrated in the southeastern section. Additionally, increased activities were noted on both sides of the bridge.
Design Concept
Based on the previous design, the current concept employs the clamping, covering, and wrapping relationships of mops to the structure and joints of the bridge. The design emphasizes ecological considerations of the site and the human flow. Historically, people would walk, play in the water, and exercise along the lakeside, creating a contrast with the calm lake surface. Ascending the bridge or kayaking here allows for movement that is not confined to land alone. The curved and tiered spaces enable individuals to experience the area from a more liberated perspective, bridging the gap between land and water.
